SHOWJUMPING: Fit-again Hanley raring to go

Show jumper Cameron Hanley returns to competition in Spain next week almost two years after a freak injury nearly ended his career.

SHOWJUMPING: Fit-again Hanley raring to go

The Mayoman was, on foot, jumping fences with his children in the garden of their German home in June 2011 when his knee gave way, completely rupturing his patella tendon.

What followed was a series of 17 operations, including a tendon transplant that failed as a result of infection, forcing surgeons to remove it and replace it with a section of his calf muscle. This weekend he has travelled to Oliva for the Spanish Sunshine Tour.
