Quinn shines as Belfast Star see off Moycullen
The northerners got the perfect start as eight points from Conor Quinn helped them into a 14-5 lead by the sixth minute.
Moycullen, after their slow start, gradually got up and running, mainly through the excellent shooting of captain Patrick Lyons, to see them reduce the deficit to 23-19 at the break.
Credit to Moycullen, they continued to take the game to Star on the resumption and a coast-to-coast move by Dylan Costelloe levelled the game in the 19th minute.
Star had the final say with a Conor Quinn basket but it was all to play for despite Moycullen trailing 35-32.
The trend of the game changed in the third period with Conor Quinn shooting crucial baskets when Moycullen threatened to take control.
Leading 53-45, Star never lost control coming down the stretch and it was fitting that Conor Quinn (24pts) would be awarded the MVP for his magnificent contribution.
Belfast Star: C Quinn 24, A Quinn 18, L Pettigrew 11.
Moycullen: S O’Brien 20, P Lyons 17.
