Heskin takes over as CEO

The Irish Hockey Association yesterday announced Mike Heskin will take over as chief executive from Angus Kirkland.

English native Kirkland announced his decision to step down during the summer to take up a new role as director general of the European Hockey Federation. Galway man Heskin has held a number of senior management position with Irish and multinational companies in the property, insurance services and healthcare sectors.

In 2010, Heskin joined the board of Irish Hockey and served as its financial officer, as well as sitting on various committees in recent years. Prior to his involvement with hockey, Heskin served on the national executive of Rowing Ireland for six years and the international rowing committee for eight years.
