Whiskeys can cheer punters

Two Hot Whiskeys may not be ideally served by his rails draw, but he has the early pace to go clear in tonight’s closing race at Curraheen Park and that should be enough to set up victory.

Tom Tanner’s dog was well beaten at Shelbourne Park last week and was also out of luck from this draw on his previous effort, at this track.

When missing the kick on that latter occasion, he was noted moving middle to wide, but he also showed a lot of early pace.

However, he showed terrific early speed when runner-up behind Jamies Ok back on August 31 and if repeating that sort of break, he should surge clear to success.

He is still very lightly raced and has scope for improvement and for that reason he earns the nap selection. Nonetheless would be a danger if finding her trapping boots.

Race five is a re-run of last week’s first-round heat of the Curraheen A5 and as Witches Kevin produced a career-best effort in coming home in front in that void race, it makes sense to side with him this time.

Liam Twomey’s dog, who qualified really smartly, showed fine early pace to go clear on that occasion and while Brogan Ollie still posed a danger when spotting the outside interference, the leader was striding out well in front and can gain some compensation this time.

As Expected can set punters off on the right foot by taking the opening race. This is probably not the strongest of races and he can make up for his debut defeat.
