Delta looks rock solid in Southern Oaks decider

The Makeshift Southern Oaks is the feature race on the calendar at Youghal Track and the large crowd expected to gather at the east Cork venue for this evening’s final will enjoy free entry to the track thanks to the Track Supporters’ Club and Kearney Catering.

The competition attracted a top-class entry and victory in the final can be expected to go to Graham Holland’s Rockburst Delta, who finished third behind Milldean Tally in the Sporting Press Irish Oaks at Shelbourne Park earlier in the year.

She’s capable of a faster break than she has produced in either of her heats to date and she looks drawn to turn close to the pace this time. She stayed particularly strongly last week and will be hard to hold if turning unscathed. Madam Shaw, drawn on the rails, has plenty of local knowledge and is capable of a big run.
