Rely on Barrack Patsy

The Makeshift Southern Oaks, which gets underway at Youghal Track tonight, has attracted a very strong entry and punters who avail of the free admission to the track will get to see some classy bitches in action.

Rely on Barrack Patsy

The best bet on the card comes in the final heat, where Joe Collins’ Barrack Patsy looks drawn for a huge run. She impressed with three smart runs through a 525 yards stake at Limerick back in June, showing the right attitude when things went against her in the semi-final.

She broke 29 seconds in a recent trial here, which is no mean feat, and with the rails draw to play in her favour, she should take a world of beating. The danger is likely to come from Exciting Poppet.

Forty Winks, who won the Ladbrokes.com Derby Trial Stake here recently, should take beating in the first heat.

The second heat can go to Monleek Spark, who started her career here but headed north shortly afterwards. She ran out a very smart 29.84 winner over 550 yards at Shelbourne Park back in June and while 525 may be on the short side for her, she has the pace to have a big say.

The third heat can go to the diminutive Tyra Cool, who possesses electric early pace when timing her break right and if she can get the better of Rockburst Delta early, she should come home in front.

At Curraheen Park, Gowlane Hawk can land the nap selection for punters when he goes to traps for the third race. While he has never won a race from trap one, he breaks well from the inside .
