Torres looks set to score

With unraced greyhounds in five of the eight races at Curraheen Park tonight, it is a night for extreme caution and thus finding a best bet is a particularly difficult task.

Torres looks set to score

The final of the Thursday Night Racedogs is the feature race on the card and while he was a shade disappointing last week, Muskerry Torres is drawn to win.

Brendan and Rita O’Day’s dog was left in front between the opening bends in the semi-finals, but was surprisingly caught by Calling Val.

There’s little doubt that he’s better than that and while he may have pushed supporters beyond their limit, his claims are undeniable.

With modest breakers in two and three, he has a gilt-edged opportunity to turn in front along the rails. He has recorded the fastest time of the six finalists and anything approaching his best form should be good enough to secure victory.

Vals Dream produced a terrific performance in the first round and was possibly a shade unlucky in the semi-finals, but she has a modest draw in trap six and thus the danger may come from Kathryns Newfern, who should be prominent early and looks likely to be involved.
