HSI ask Olympic Council to pause Lynch’s ratification
Officials in Germany found Lantinus to be suffering from sore feet and hypersensitive following Thursday night’s Nation Cup competition.
Lynch and Lantinus racked up four faults in their first round and eight in their second round as Ireland finished third.
Lantinus was re-examined yesterday morning and deemed unfit for competition.
Whether or not the bay gelding’s condition was naturally occurring is now subject to an inquiry.
Horses can incur hypersensitivity in natural circumstances, while hypersensitisation is defined as the prohibited artificial production of hypersensitivity.
HSI issued a brief statement which read: “We are awaiting a full report on this matter from the FEI and our own personnel in Aachen.
“In the interim, we have asked the OCI to pause the process of ratifying Denis Lynch’s selection for the Games.”
