Geoff the Tralee value
Trained by Dolores Ruth for Micheal O’Muircheartaigh, the dog is blessed with terrific early speed but this is a contest packed with quality performers, including interesting English raider Bubbly Phoenix.
All 50 members of the Bubbly Syndicate are rumoured to be making the journey to the Kingdom Stadium and that should ensure the raider is strong in the market.
Another greyhound that will carry extra support is Shelbourne Geoff, who is part-owned by champion jockey AP McCoy.
He went fastest in the semi-finals and if he turns close this time, he’ll be very hard to hold. He stays strongly over this trip and with a clear run, he’ll be on hand to punish any mistakes up front. He looks the value bet in an open contest.
The final can be viewed live during a two-and-a-half-hour programme on Sky Sports 3 from 8pm.
At Shelbourne Park Owen McKenna will be hoping Confident Rankin can continue his winning ways when he contests the final of the ECC Timber Open 550.
He should start favourite following two fine displays in the heats. With a trap two draw in his favour, he can lead early and should prove very difficult to pass. Razldazl Will, who is also well drawn, rates the danger.
Camas and Danmar Benny make most appeal of the remaining four runners but Camas tends to give away too much ground on the turns, while Danmar Benny must lead early.
