The Kilkenny City Harriers runner achieved an A standard qualification time of 51.45 in the 400m at Shizuoka International Track & Field Meet in Japan.

Cuddihy will stay on in the region and compete in the Golden Grand Prix in Kawasaki on Sunday, where she is hoping to further improve on this time.

In other good news for Irish athletics, Mark English (Letterkenny AC) won the 800m at the British Milers Club meet on Tuesday.

The DCU student’s time of 1.48.19 is inside the Athletics Ireland A standard for the World Juniors.
