Panther can overcome tricky draw
With so much early pace in the race and he having a penchant for the rails, he could be set for a troubled passage unless he can produce the type of break that carried him clear at Shelbourne Park on Derby final night.
The fear is that he hasn’t been breaking to the best of his ability recently, but it’s still very difficult to oppose him.
I’m certain he will be better back over 550 yards later in the year, but his class can take him through tonight.
As a danger, Cambushmore is readily preferred.
For an inside seed, Milldean Panther’s kennel companion Milldean Tally may look terribly drawn in trap six in race two but the bitch is going to be very hard to beat and warrants the nap selection.
She made her Curraheen debut last week and after breaking smartly, she found some trouble at the first bend.
There wasn’t enough in that interference to suggest she was unlucky, but she certainly displayed real ability and should be open to further improvement.
If she can produce a similar break to last week, the draw could work in her favour and she’s a confident choice to land the spoils.
In the second semi-final of the Cork GOBA Guys & Dolls A4 Stake Fermoy Scolari looks perfectly drawn and he has the pace to take full advantage for trainer Christy Corcoran.
In the other semi-final Rebel Savannah is due a return to the winner’s enclosure and should get it.
