Lynch makes Cup final showdown

Show jumper Denis Lynch last night qualified for tomorrow’s showdown at the World Cup finals in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.

The German-based Tipperary rider put up eight faults with Abbervail van het Dingeshof, which, combined with the four faults in the opening leg on Thursday, was good enough to see him among the top two-thirds of competitors through to tomorrow’s jump-off class.

Lying overnight in 20th place of the 25 riders remaining in the competition, however, means he has no chance of a podium finish.
