Spring Leagues: a year of firsts... all bad

A recent assertion by Anne Waistell of the Irish Show Jumping Centres Group that entries in spring leagues have fallen dramatically has been affirmed by one league organiser.

Waistell said on the Irish Examiner sports blog recently that: “Numbers are not holding up. I have spoken to owners and did a quick survey and 70% are down on entries. In fact some are down from between 20% to 70%.

“I am also on the SJI [ShowjumpingIreland] executive and, from that perspective, its figures are showing numbers are holding up, but if you delve deeper, they are well down.”
