Boylesports to sponsor Milldean for the season
Unbeaten as a puppy last season with a ten from ten record and not even a close shave, Milldean Panther went into the record books when becoming the fastest greyhound ever over the 525 yards at Shelbourne when clocking a superb 28.00.
The historic deal has been announced just two days before the dog commences his all-aged racing career, having completed his ten race puppy season unbeaten.
Already he is the holder of the Shelbourne Park track record for 525 yards and is ante-post favourite for every event in which he is likely to run.
The deal raises the possibility of the dog contesting the Boylesports International at Dundalk in July. Indeed, Boylesports reckon that he would be a near certainty to win that event as they already quote him a 2-7 favourite for the 550 yards invitation contest which will be run on July 12th.
Other special prices offered by Boylesports about the dog include a very reasonable 5-4 against him breaking the 550 yard track record at Shelbourne and 20-1 against him doing the “impossible” by breaking 29 seconds for the 550 yards at Shelbourne.
One bet that could represent real value is the 10-1 about him going unbeaten through the Irish Derby and he is 14-1 to be unbeaten for the entire season.
And how is the dog? John O’Flynn Snr yesterday described him as “in tip top form. He is absolutely flying. I had him checked out by Ray Cuddihy and he is 100%, in brilliant order. He will race heavier but he has developed and matured.
“He looks very strong and will probably weigh in at 77 or 78 lbs”.
Meanwhile Paddy Power could be inundated for the 9-4 they have quoted about him winning the SIS Live Tote Gold Cup which commences at Shelbourne tomorrow night. Their other top prizes are 7 Cabra Noel, Razldazl Will, Rockchase Bullet; 12 Noirs Buachaill, Piercestown Sand; 14 Broadstrand Lad; 16 Tibetan Skies, Tyrur Big Mike; 20 bar.
