ONE of the paradoxes of a Grand Slam tennis championship is that while the action heats up as finals day approaches, the workload for tournament staff decreases round by round.

And for Elaine Brady, a sports physiotherapist, or Primary Care Giver for the Women’s Tennis Association, the long and busy days at this year’s Australian Open have thankfully passed by without event.

“No drama I’m afraid this year, we came through it pretty unscathed, which is good for us,” Clonmel-born Brady reported from Melbourne yesterday. “We were busy all through the event but thankfully it has quietened down a lot now that we are nearing the end.”
