Ireland draw with Great Britain

IRELAND were again left frustrated despite recording another positive result at Bisham Abbey yesterday, drawing 2-2 with Great Britain.

Ireland draw with Great Britain

A pair of Timothy Cockram drag-flicks twice equalised for Paul Revington’s charges after Barry Middleton and Richard Mantell had put GB ahead, adding another draw to Thursday’s 1-1 stalemate.

Meanwhile, Ireland’s women went down 1-0 to Belgium in Johannesburg in a game of few chances. Ireland’s best chances fell to Audrey O’Flynn at short corner time, but she drew two good saves from the Belgian keeper as well as sending one drag-flick centimetres wide. Stephanie de Groof — on her 50th cap — netted the Belgian first-half winner.
