A force 4-5 moderate to fresh northerly breeze heralded the start of the 2012 ASM Marine KYC Frostbite Series at Kinsale Harbour last Sunday.

The popular south coast winter series with a mix of up to 40 dinghies, comprising entries from Inniscarra SC, Lough Derg SC, Baltimore SC, Bantry Bay SC in addition to the usual fleets from KYC, RCYC and Monkstown Bay SC was favoured with a bright and windy start to the season.

Despite the economic gloom, it was encouraging to find the continued strength of the Laser 4.7 and Radial fleets holding up well, due in no small measure to the continued efforts and commitment of sailors, parents and coaches alike.
