Take a chance on Rocket to shoot home

TONIGHT'S programme at Curraheen Park is another tricky one for punters but a chance should be taken that Carbery Rocket can make the most of a drop in class in the third race.

Michael Hallahan's dog looks ideally drawn along the rails and he should have the pace to turn close to the pace.

The inside line can see him go clear and, though he boasts just one victory, which was gained in A8 company, he looks well capable of scoring at A4 level.

The danger is likely to come from Compass Parker, who should contest the early lead and is also capable in this grade.

The nap selection very nearly went to Getbackontrack, who is certainly not too highly tried in the closing race.

A 28.49 trial, recorded prior to the start of the Laurels, stands out in this company and even his effort in defeat in the first round of the Classic would be good enough to see him home in front here. His race will be won or lost at traps but if he breaks well, he will quickly leave his rivals toiling.

Blue Jet Sky would prefer a bit further but can race into the places.

The first round heats of The New Year A3 550 dominate the second half of the card and Barthlemy Torres should take beating in the opening heat.

The experienced tracker should be able to dictate the pace along theoutside and his stamina is taken to see him home clear of Aughacasla Jack.

In the third heat, Almost Adorable looks to have a good draw and she can make the most of it.

With the likelihood of Lahana Crossogue (drawn four) diving left from traps and Hurricane Hawk (drawn one) moving off at the bend, Bobby Barrett's bitch has a chance to take charge down the outside.

She sees out this trip very well and is selected to get the better of Dower Twilight.
