Mucky Eamonn claims Cork Cup

MUCKY EAMONN, jointly owned and nominated by Don and Gerard Buckley from Macroom, Co Cork and trained by James Kelleher, was a worthy winner of the Agnes O’Brien Cork Cup at Blarney yesterday when easily beating the Gerry Griffin trained long-odds favourite, Sound Pistol, by eight lengths in the final.

In fairness, the runner-up got a very heavy course against Sandyman Bolt in the quarter-final having all six turns in a lengthy course to cover.

The Derby Trial Stake was won in impressive style by Belated Birthday, owned by James Mulcahy and Brian O’Leary from Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, who easily got the better of Clon Harbour in the final. This was the winner’s third outing of the season having being injured at Castleisland and then going out in the quarter-final at Newcastlewest.
