McGloin takes blame for fight

THE quarterback of Penn State was taken to hospital after a locker room fight with a teammate, said the university, which is struggling to restore its image from a child sex abuse scandal.

Matt McGloin said yesterday he was knocked unconscious when he hit his head on the concrete floor of the team’s locker room after a brief scuffle with wide receiver Curtis Drake.

McGloin accepted full responsibility for the fight, which he said included several punches and lasted about 10 seconds.

“I started it, but as a quarterback for this university, I should be held to a higher standard,” McGloin told reporters.

“It should not have happened. I should’ve walked away from it.”

Penn State play Houston in the TicketCity Bowl on January 2.
