IF the NFL circus ever does roll onto Jones Road with all its fanfare, oversized fashion and gratuitous alcohol intake, I hope the GAA will treat it as more than just an opportunity to make a bit of cash.

I have no problem with this being used as a moneyspinner, by the way. But this could represent an unique opportunity to learn from one of the slickest sporting organisations in the world, building up a solid relationship with a multi-billion dollar industry and tapping into their resources and expertise, not to mention being able to witness the game day machine in all its pomp and glory.

Of course, Peter McKenna’s comments in this paper yesterday summed up exactly what an event of this stature could and should mean to the local economy, not to mention the Association and the image of the country in general.
