Vettel focused in Brazil

SEBASTIAN VETTEL is determined to end his superlative season with one last brilliant blast in Brazil this weekend.

Vettel stands on the cusp of becoming F1’s all-time record holder for pole positions in a season after equalling Nigel Mansell’s 1992 mark of 14 last time out in Abu Dhabi.

Although a puncture on the first lap at the Yas Marina Circuit robbed the double world champion of the opportunity to match Michael Schumacher’s haul of 13 wins in a single campaign, Vettel aims to finish the season as he began it in Australia — with a victory.

“We want to finish the season on a high as we’ve done for the last two years. The weather looks a bit up and down with rain forecast, but we want to finish as high as we can.”

Mark Webber topped the timesheet in first practice. Webber last won a GP in Hungary last year — a run of 25 races — in which time Vettel has won on 14 occasions. McLaren’s Jenson Button trailed Webber by just 0.014secs.
