Rory’s No 1 fan Caroline up close and personal

RORY McILROY received an extra bit of support from tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki as he closed in on the biggest cash prize of his golfing career.

World number one women's tennis player Wozniacki arrived in Shanghai yesterday just in time to watch boyfriend McIlroy win a play off at the Lake Malaren Shanghai Masters.

“Caroline is arriving to cheer Rory on. We have readied the tennis centre at our golf resort because we've been told she likes to practice every day,” tournament owner Janson Shi said.

Wozniacki enjoyed some last-minute shopping before catching the last China-bound plane out of Istanbul where she crashed out early of the end of season WTA Champions tournament.

She posted on her Twitter account: “First day off of the season, going shopping before I head on a midnight flight out of Istanbul.”

Despite her early exit in Turkey, she was in a celebratory mood as she managed to extend her year-long number one status.

“Celebrating my second consecutive year as number one with my team:) a very proud and memorable moment!” she posted earlier.
