Favourites bite the dust

THERE were a few surprises in the finals at the Regional meeting yesterday, with the long odds favourite in the featured James Curran Memorial Cup - Breska Rovers - having to give best to Windfarm Eiscir ( 5-1 yesterday morning) and Perfume upsetting the odds on Banbas Minnie in the Oaks decider, having four lengths to spare at the escape.

Favourites bite the dust

The well fancied Valleymount Kilt had to be withdrawn injured from the decider in the All-Aged Bitch Stake, with Vacume Onmyway declared winner.

The Derby Trial Stake was won in good style by the Brendan Matthews trained Ashmore Sambo who defeated Kyle Gaisce in the final.

At Cashel Coach Bart, who won his trial stake at the venue last season, captured the Morrisey All-Aged Stake at the expense of Kickham County while Whytanyard Ivy was successful in the All-Aged Bitch Stake.

Trainer Michael O’Donovan sent out his third Derby Trial Stake winner in-a -row at the venue when Arise Sir Mark took the honours, while the Oaks ticket went to the Moneygall owned Magical Sophie who was an impressive in all her courses.
