Bolt’s early speed can be decisive

AVAUNE BOLT, who contests the first semi-final of the Cork GOBA Past Presidents’ A3, rates the banker bet on tonight’s card at Curraheen Park.

Ed Colbert’s pup has only five runs under his belt, but he’s already shown a prodigious trapping ability and it’s that which can put him on the road to victory here.

The early challenge should come from promising sprinter Funcheon Black, who broke his duck over four bends last time, but Avaune Bolt boasts terrific all-round speed and is a confident selection to fend off that rival and come home in front.

David Kennedy’s Inslips Enzo has strong claims to reverse last week’s form with Black Diver, when they contest a very competitive opening semi-final of the Gally A4.

The pair can be expected to dominate this race from the outset and, although Inslips Enzo was two and a half lengths behind his rival last week, he was the one who suffered most interference in running.

He should improve for the experience of the track, looks better drawn a little off the rails this time, and should have the early pace to avoid trouble as the promising and imposing Travara Bound makes for the rails.

At this early stage of their careers, it would appear that Inslips Enzo possesses more early pace than Black Diver and he can lead all the way to earn a first career success.

The final race on the card is a terrific assembly of top class talent, most of which looks capable of making an impact in this year’s Laurels.

National record-holder, Leeview Jet, was unlucky when beaten favourite in the final of the Northern Irish Derby at Drumbo Park and, although he’s returning after a break, his recent 17.62 solo suggests he’s ready to do himself justice.
