AMY FOSTER’S seventh place finish in the 200m final capped off a tremendous campaign for Team Ireland at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China.

“I am very happy finishing seventh as I ran strong and kept getting better,” said Foster.

“The 200m is definitely my race and this experience has taught me what I want to work on for an Olympic qualification.”

Race Walker Laura Reynolds (DCU) completed the 20km in 1:43:27 despite rising temperatures of 35 degrees and placed 12th overall.

Aisling Cooney (DCU) and Fiona Doyle (Calgary, Canada) competed in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Breaststroke heats concluding Ireland’s swimming campaign.

The men’s and women’s golf team wrapped up their third day of tournament play at Mission Hills Golf Course with team scores of 222 and 153, respectively.

John Greene (UCD) shot level par which aided the men’s side to move up the leaderboard by one place.

Emma O’Driscoll (UCC) shot four over par to improve her score by six strokes and Lucy Simpson shot 77 to transfer up four places.
