Kranky Rosaleen clearly the one to beat

THE final of the Cork GOBA A5 Racedogs Stake takes centre stage at Youghal tonight and John Kiely’s Kranky Rosaleen is clearly the one to beat.

The improving bitch has a little room for improvement in the trapping department, but she possesses fine pace when in full flight and that should prove more than enough to gain the day.

A daughter of that smashing bitch Shingaun Stan, she runs the outside line very well and should prove too strong for tonight’s opposition.

The fast-starting Seaview Mandy has been in terrific form and she can fill the runner-up spot.

Meanwhile at Curraheen Park Son Of David, who has been in superb form recently highlighted by recording the fastest time of the year over 575 yards last Saturday night, can earn his stripes over six bends by taking the fourth race for trainer Patrick O’Regan.

On his only previous run over this trip he broke moderately, but showed fine early speed to turn in a close second place behind Priceless Chef. Had he been able to engineer a path to get past that rival, I’m certain he would have posted a very decent time over the trip. He stands out in this company and if he can get free early here, he should not be caught.
