Coyle out to put on Royal performance in Mayo

THE title may be obscure but fireworks will fly when Henry Coyle and Italian, Elio Cotena touch gloves for the WBF Foundation, light middleweight crown at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar tonight.

Mayo has been waiting for this one since the 29-year-old Geesala man went to Chicago in pursuit of fame and fortune. And, while he may not have caused a sensation in the US, the former Irish amateur champ has won his last five in a row and tops this six-fight bill.

The Hyland brothers, Patrick and Paul, are both on the bill, facing Italy’s Fabrizio Trotta and Welshman Dai Davies.

Michael Sweeney and John Waldron go head-to-head in an all-Mayo light heavyweight bout.

* TG4 will cover the show live.
