O’Donovan takes heat

SKIBBEREEN’S Paul O’Donovan will race in today’s World Rowing Junior Championships quarter-final at Dorney Lake in England.

O’Donovan won his heat after beating off a strong challenge from Alexandros Dafnis of Greece. Dafnis took an early lead but O’Donovan overtook him and, despite a strong challenge from the Greek, O’Donovan held on for a tight win.

Fermanagh’s Holly Dixon will face rowers from Japan, China, Switzerland, Germany, Latvia, Denmark and Bulgaria in her semi-final.
