Murphy fails to qualify for final

GRÁINNE MURPHY failed to qualify for the 800m freestyle final at the World Swimming Championships in Shanghai.

Murphy’s time of 8.35:17 was ten seconds slower than her personal best recorded at the European long course finals in Budapest and left her 17th overall. Her next swim is the 400m individual medley tomorrow.

Barry Murphy’s 22.96 left him 35th in the 50m freestyle while Melanie Nocher (2.13:39) was 23rd in the heats of the 200m backstroke.
