Gregan home to hero’s welcome

BRIAN GREGAN was surprised but delighted with the turnout of family and friends who were present at Dublin Airport to welcome himself and his Irish team mates home from the European U23 Track and Field Championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic , where the Tallaght native scooped the silver medal in the men’s 400 meters.

“It still has not fully sunk in that I actually won the silver medal in these championships, but when I saw the welcoming party at the airport it certainly helped increase my awareness of what I had achieved,” the 21-year-old Gregan said.

“We had a great championships and our Irish team members all performed very well.
