Egan wins as Ireland beat GB

BOXING: KEN EGAN knocked out Obed Mbwakongo in the first round to ease Ireland into a 5-0 lead over Great Britain after five bouts of last night’s round robin clash in Germany.

Michael Conlon, Tyrone McCullagh, Willie McLaughlin, Darren O’Neill fired Ireland into an unassailable 4-0 lead with three bouts left before Egan’s victory. Ireland meet Germany — who edged Ireland 5-4 on Wednesday — again tomorrow morning in Chemitz.
