Magee falls victim to Bute’s body shots

BRIAN MAGEE’S quest to win the IBF super-middleweight title ended in defeat at the Bell Centre in Montreal when he was stopped by Lucian Bute in the 10th round.

The Lisburn southpaw was in contention up until the sixth when he was felled by a left to the body and was down again from the same shot in the seventh.

Magee rallied and put in a strong round nine before Bute’s uppercut forced referee Pete Podgorski to end the fight.
