Majestic McSweeney gets Paris timing right

AILIS McSWEENEY (Leevale AC) stormed to a new personal best performance with a sensational 7.32 sec victory in the women’s 60m — just two hundredths of a second off the national record — at the Woodies DIY Irish Indoor championships at the Odyssey Arena yesterday.

Majestic McSweeney gets Paris timing right

Amy Foster (University of Ulster) finished second in 7.44 secs with the defending champion, Claire Brady (Celbridge) third in 7.63 and Joan Healy (Bandon) fourth in 7.63.

It was spectacular run for the Cork woman who has now dipped under the qualifying standard for next week’s European indoor championships twice and it was executed in ice cool fashion after the finalists had been delayed for what appeared to be an interminable period at the start.
