Joyce gets Istanbul call

DAVID OLIVER JOYCE has been named in the Istanbul side to meet The Kremlin Bears (Moscow) in the World Series of Boxing (WSB) European group on Friday night.

The St Michael’s Athy lightweight, who signed for the Turkish side last weekend, will debut for the Turks against Russian Adlan Abdurashidsov at the Darussafaka Sports Hall.

Istanbul go into the match against their bottom-off-the-table opponents lying in third spot, eight points behind John Joe Nevin’s table-topping Paris United, who meet Milan on Friday.
