Inside draw to swing it for Dilemma

THERE are strong hopes that, despite the weather, tonight’s card at Limerick which features the final of the Kerry Agri Business Irish St Leger will go ahead.

It’s the biggest night of the year at Limerick and fittingly the line up for the decider — RTE 2 will transmit an hour long programme from 9 to 10pm — is of the highest quality.

Favourite to come out on top in the €25,000 contest is the hugely promising Judicial Academy after a series of impressive displays through the competition. He looks likely to race prominently to the turn, although a trap five draw is a slight worry.

In contrast his nearest rival in the market, Beaming Dilemma, looks ideally drawn on the fence and he too should turn close to the pace. Last weekend Judicial Academy was four lengths too good for Beaming Dilemma although excuses could be made for the latter and from tonight’s draw there is a strong chance of a reversal.

Of course this is far from a two dog contest. Fraser Black’s pacey Westmead Bolt, Ken Duce’s Nicken Shaw and Robert Gleeson’s Hare Mack are all capable of going up strongly and it would be brash to ignore their claims, while the remaining runner Farley Turbo is perhaps the fastest greyhound in the line up, although he shown a tendency in recent weeks to leave himself with plenty to do.

In short it’s a wide open decider, but a trap one draw could be enough to swing it the way of Beaming Dilemma. The Pat Buckley trained star is in the form of his life and looks certain to make a bold bid.
