Blitz taken to win battle of the Farleys in Leger

THE meeting of litter brothers Farley Turbo and Farley Blitz in Heat 5 is the most intriguing clash in the second round of the Kerry Agri Business St Leger at Limerick this evening.

Blitz taken to win battle of the Farleys in Leger

Of course this is far from a two-dog contest, as opening round winners Nicken Shaw and Huckabees Kid as well as top bitch Skywalker Queen also line-up.

Much will depend on the early exchanges, but slight preference goes to Farley Blitz.

The meeting of Christmas Box and Colorful Champ in the final heat could also provide sparks. They will be joined by Hats My Boy, Knockdrinna Pact and Beaming Dilemma, but one suspects it rests between Christmas Box and Colorful Champ. However, if Colorful Champ makes one of his trademark fast starts, he will take some stopping.

Fraser Black could have a good night with both Westmead Bond and Westmead Bolt holding outstanding claims in their respective heats. Bond has drawn one of the handier heats and with a fast start from trap six in the opening heat he can take some stopping. Litter brother Westmead Bolt has a tougher task in Heat 3 which shapes up as one of the races of the night.

Bob Morton’s tracker will wear the blue jacket and should lead up the inside. However, Confident Nestor, St Louis Spirit and Monlesa Alsation all look dangerous.

Makeshift will be seen as one of the banker bets of the evening in Heat 7 where he can make the most of a favourable draw in trap two. With one of his better starts, the Champion Stakes winner can assume control in the early yards before going on to make all. Slippery Bob looks his biggest threat. Thurlesbeg Joker will be piling it on from halfway in Heat 4 and could be too strong for his rivals while Paul Hennessy’s De Ex Factor can make the most of an inside draw in Heat 6 where Hare Mack looks the main threat.

Mustang Johnny ran well in the opening round, only to fail by a half length to catch Monlesa Alsation, but he can return to winning ways in Herat 2 where Bellewood Prince looks his biggest rival.

Farloe Force, Mozzletoff and Deerfield Music all suffered defeat in the opening round of the Comerford Cakes National Puppy Stake, but all three could return to winning ways at Shelbourne Park this evening in the second round of the valuable competition.

Farloe Force displayed huge early speed after a moderate start last time, only to encounter serious traffic problems on the turn. If making one of his better starts he should be too powerful for his rivals. Simple Class is an obvious threat, but he may struggle to match Farloe Force for early speed.

Marie Gilbert’s flying bitch Mozzletoff missed her start last week, but she has a favourite’s chance of returning to winning ways in Heat 2 where Boxie, Black Cyclone and Beaming Therapy all come into the reckoning.

Mossie O’Connor’s Deerfield Music displayed massive pace seven days ago and he too looks the part in Heat 4 where Hardy Buck and Colourful Fox look the main dangers.

However, if Deerfield Mover comes away on terms he should have too much pace.

The third heat could be the punters’ teaser with Modern Man nominated to lead home Pennys Viking, Rockchase Zico and Cool Dude.
