Carrigmartin looks a decent prospect

THE familiar colours of champion owner J P McManus dominated last night’s action in Sligo as Carrigmartin, Alpine Eagle and Ross Bay, all favourites, obliged for him.

Carrigmartin proved himself a decent prospect when winning the competitive Martin Reilly BMW Dealer Novice Hurdle. The five-year-old was following-up a recent maiden win in Ballinrobe and coped admirably with the step-up to two and half miles, staying on in determined style to beat Moon Dice by a length and a quarter.

Frank Berry, Racing Manager to owner McManus commented: “He did it well and appreciated the easier ground. The plan was to go chasing with him but, after such a nice performance, he’ll probably go for another hurdle first.”
