O’Donoghue and Kingston take Munster crowns

O’Donoghue won the Murphy’s Stout Munster Intermediate final when he beat Seamus Sexton by almost a bowl at Ballinacurra, Upton on Sunday. The previous day Kingston became the youngest holder of the Munster Junior A title when he had the same winning margin over Brian Wilmot at Newcestown.

O’Donoghue shaded the opening tips in the intermediate final, but Sexton made Brinny Cross in two more to raise 100m odds. He held the lead with his next to the church. O’Donoghue cut the odds to just five metres with a great bowl from there to well past Foley’s. He followed with another good bowl, which Sexton missed by 40m after playing his bowl to the right. He increased his lead in the next exchange to Perrott’s.
