Forest Rover can foil Jet

LEMON JET was the undoubted star of last week’s opening round of the Thurles Fresh Milk Tipperary Cup and his reward for a wonderful 28.82 return is a tricky trap one draw in Heat 5 of tonight’s second round.

The powerful black was foot-perfect last week, but if he is to continue his winning ways this evening he m ay need to go even faster in a contest that features some very talented sorts, including Forest Rover and Tyrur Lauren. It could pay to side with Forest Rover who looks well housed in trap three.

Another that could attract big support is Hurry On Black in Heat 3, although prospective punters should be warned that his task is less than straightforward. Drawn in the stripes, Hurry On Black will need to make one of his trademark fast starts and even then he is far from certain to head the likes of Guitar Moment to the bend.

After recording a double last weekend, Graham Holland again holds strong claims of recording a success with either Leeview Jet in Heat 4 or Carib King in the final heat.

At Shelbourne Park there are many potential Champion Stakes and Derby challengers in action in the finals of the Tyrur Rhino Open 550 and the ECC Timber Open 525. After a brilliant effort last weekend, Barefoot Bullet is likely to startfavourite for the latter contest.

In the absence of Fatboyz Tyson, who races in the Boylesports Dundalk International on Monday, Barefoot Bullet looks the one to beat. He displayed huge pace in his semi final and while Bar Blackstone, Oran Classic and Whatsupjack all look dangerous, Barefoot Bullet is difficult to oppose.

In the final of the Tyrur Rhino Open 550 the ideally drawn Farley Blitz will almost certainly head the market. The rails seed should turn close to the pace and his superior pace from halfway could prove decisive. Of his rivals, Razldazl Lord is nominated as the main threat.

The semi finals of the Ladbrokes.com Derby Trial Stake are the highlight at Mullingar this evening and while it’s unlikely to feature a future Derby winner both heats promise to be very competitive. Clonrooske Guy and Bunlahy Brett could take beating in their respective heats.
