Scots compound Ireland’s misery

SCOTLAND struck late in each half to compound Ireland’s woes at the World Cup qualifiers in Santiago, Chile as a lack of killer instinct either end put paid to any remote chance of reaching the second biggest competition in the game.

Against a side who landed in South America only 48 hours earlier, Ireland’s performance was stronger than the abject showing against Malaysia.

Ireland’s best opening was created by Eimear Cregan who battled through a string of challenges but her pass just skimmed away from Julia O’Halloran.
