ENGLAND cricketer Tim Bresnan has apologised to his bosses over an expletive-laden rant at a fellow Twitter user.

Bresnan, 24, swore on his Twitter page in response to a mocked-up image of him which made him look overweight.

This is the latest faux pas to befall celebrity users of the popular online facility which employs text message-length announcements which can be read by anyone with an internet connection.

Bresnan began ‘tweeting’ just three days ago and had been involved in insult-trading about his weight with team-mates Graeme Swann and James Anderson on the site.

But when an outsider joined in, mocking up an unflattering picture of the Yorkshire all-rounder, he launched his tirade: “Don’t mind my mates dishing it out but who the f*** are you. Crawl out of your basement. U ****.”

He later apologised to coach Andy Flower.

“If you are an England player you have obviously got to behave in a certain way,” said Flower. “It is pretty simple if you are on a public site like that – you have to behave yourself.

“Tim has apologised, it’s not the end of the world, and we have a semi-final tomorrow.”
