Fitness boost for Hession, O’Rourke

PAUL HESSION and Derval O’Rourke will be back to full fitness in plenty of time for the world championships which get under way in Berlin on Saturday week.

Hession returned to his training base in Scotland yesterday after a short break before completing his preparations for Berlin.

The Athenry sprinter who holds all the Irish sprint records from 60m to 300m and missed out narrowly on a place in the 200m final at last year’s Olympic Games sent out shock waves when he pulled out of the 100m after winning his first round heat at the national championships on Sunday.
