Acosta top attraction as Perez ruled out

MIKE ‘The Rebel’ Perez is being treated for a dislocated shoulder and will miss tomorrow night’s dinner/boxing show at the Moran Silversprings Hotel in Cork. However, fans can expect fireworks from classy super-bantamweight Alexei Acosta when he tops the bill for the first time.

Acosta, like his Cuban compatriots Perez and super middleweight, Luis Garcia, is a former world junior champion and since arriving in Cork to join the Gary Hyde stable also has an unbeaten record.

But Hyderevealed yesterday that Acosta has been nursing a damaged right hand since his arrival and has won all of his four contests punching with just one hand.
