Mangan on Grand National trail again

JIMMY Mangan is hoping Himalayan Trail can give him a second success in the John Smith’s Grand National at Aintree on Saturday week, six years on from the triumph of Monty's Pass.

“We gave him a spin over hurdles at Naas in February, when he was 11th, but that was on bottomless ground and he’s a different horse in the spring,” said Mangan.

“He’s really turned inside out since the weather has got warmer and better ground is the key for him, so we will be hoping that the rain stays away.
