BRIAN PETERS brought off what can only be regarded as an astonishing coup by getting Ricardo Cordoba’s management to sign a voluntary defence contract without a re-match clause.

It meant that Cordoba flew out of Dublin at 7.30am yesterday on the first leg of his return trip to Panama without his WBA world super bantam-weight belt and unlikely to get it back in the immediate future with the Dubliner unlikely to agree to a rematch.
