Athletics director high on agenda

LIAM HENNESSY, President of Athletics Ireland, and members of his board will meet with the Irish Sports Council today to set out procedures for the appointment of a Director of Athletics.

The previous attempt to make the appointment ended in a storm of controversy internally and also outside of the AAI with rumours of an agreed appointment being overturned under pressure form the ISC.

Yesterday, however, Liam Hennessy insisted that no appointment had ever been made and statements to the contrary were untrue.
