Armstrong’s boost for Tour of Ireland

LANCE ARMSTRONG has guaranteed worldwide interest in this year’s Tour of Ireland by confirming that he will contest the event which takes place from August 19-23 with stage ends yet to be announced.

After helping his Astana team-mate, Levi Leipheimer, win his third successive Tour of California, the seven time Tour de France winner made the announcement on Twitter.com lance armstrong.

Alan Rushton, the event director, was on his way back from Singapore where he had organised a major cycling event when he received the news.
