Lola secures Champion Stakes place

MOONVEEN Lola made sure of her participation in the Grace Bruton Memorial All-Aged Bitch Stake at the National Coursing meeting in Clonmel next month when she collected the Macroom All-Aged Stake at Blarney yesterday.

In the decider Moonveen Lola changed sides leaving slips and there was little between Shining Henry, who held a narrow lead, and the winner until the closing stages where Moonveen Lola got her nose in front to get up by a narrow margin.

There were surprises in both trial stakes.

In the Reserve Derby Trial Stake Quarrymount Rog was favourite to come out on top but it was Sheeraghs Mocara who was fast away from slips to show six lengths in front for the opening score.

Safe Town was all the rage in the Oaks Trial Stake but, after leading early on, she went under to Mount Ruby Blaze, who changed sides in the run up but finished strongly to get up by a narrow margin at the escape.
