Heffernan ends year with fifth in Murcia

ROBERT HEFFERNAN ended a spectacular season on a high when finishing fifth at the IAAF Race Walking Challenge Final over 20k in Murcia yesterday

Training partner, Francisco Fernandez, won the event in 83 mins 14 secs, double Olympic medallist, Jared Tallent (Australia), 84:02 second, and the Olympic 20k silver medallist, Jefferson Perez (Ecuador), 84:35, with Yuki Jamazaki (Japan) fourth in 85:51 and the Corkman fifth in 86:04.

It was a satisfactory performance from Heffernan as it moved him up one place to seventh in the overall standings.
